About This Product

Rho Nutrition Liposomal Glutathione โ€” Full Review

Rho Nutrition Liposomal Glutathione is the only liquid liposomal glutathione on our list โ€” and that distinction matters. Liquid liposomal delivery has a theoretical absorption advantage over softgel liposomal formats because the liposomes are already hydrated and dispersed, potentially allowing even faster uptake through the oral mucosa and gastrointestinal lining. The formula delivers 500mg of glutathione per 4mL serving using non-GMO sunflower lecithin as the phospholipid carrier.

At $36.39 for 30 servings, it sits at approximately $1.21 per serving โ€” notably cheaper than Pure Encapsulations' liposomal softgels at $1.95/serving while offering a higher glutathione dose (500mg vs 375mg). Its #20 ranking in Antioxidant Nutritional Supplements on Amazon reflects strong category momentum.

The Taste Issue โ€” Be Prepared

This is the most important thing to know before purchasing. Liquid glutathione has a naturally sulfurous smell and taste โ€” this is inherent to the molecule itself, not a formulation flaw. Reviewers describe it as ranging from "funky" to "raw onion" to something less printable. The brand uses monk fruit and mixed berry/lemon-lime/prickly pear flavors to mask it. Some reviewers say it becomes tolerable with use; others genuinely cannot get past it. The consistent advice: take it straight (not mixed in water), chase with orange juice or tomato juice (V8), and do it fast. If taste is a dealbreaker for you, Pure Encapsulations' odorless softgel is the better liposomal choice.

On the positive side, the formula is exceptionally clean for a liquid supplement. The liposome carrier is non-GMO sunflower lecithin (not soy lecithin), making it soy-free. It's sweetened with monk fruit, contains zero sugar, zero calories, and is vegan, keto, and gluten-free. The cGMP-certified manufacturing and third-party testing provide meaningful quality assurance.

One knowledgeable reviewer noted an important point: liquid liposomal glutathione like this is meaningfully superior to non-liposomal capsules because glutathione is genuinely difficult for the body to absorb orally. They also noted that combining with NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) is smart โ€” what the body can't absorb as intact glutathione can be synthesized intracellularly from NAC.

How It Works

Rho Liposomal Technology โ€” 3 Steps

01

Encapsulation

Glutathione molecules are encapsulated within phospholipid bilayer liposomes made from non-GMO sunflower lecithin. This protective shell shields the glutathione from stomach acid and digestive enzymes that would otherwise break the molecule apart before it can be absorbed.

02

Delivery

Because the formula is liquid, the liposomes are pre-dispersed and hydrated โ€” unlike softgel capsules which must first dissolve. This allows the liposomes to begin interacting with oral and gastrointestinal mucosal tissue immediately upon consumption, potentially accelerating uptake.

03

High Absorption Design

The phospholipid outer layer of each liposome is structurally similar to cell membranes. This similarity allows the liposome to fuse with cell membranes and deliver its glutathione payload directly into cells โ€” the intended destination. This is the mechanism that makes liposomal formats superior to standard oral capsules for direct glutathione supplementation.

Our Assessment

Rho Nutrition Liposomal Glutathione โ€” Pros & Cons

โœ” What We Like

  • Liquid liposomal โ€” pre-dispersed liposomes for fast uptake
  • 500mg per serving โ€” higher dose than Pure Encapsulations (375mg)
  • Non-GMO sunflower lecithin โ€” soy-free phospholipid carrier
  • Excellent dietary profile: vegan, keto, gluten-free, sugar-free, soy-free
  • #20 in Antioxidant Supplements โ€” strong organic Amazon ranking
  • Lower price than Pure Encapsulations liposomal softgels
  • GMP certified and third-party tested
  • Zero calories, monk fruit sweetened

โœ— Worth Noting

  • Taste is polarizing โ€” sulfurous/onion-like flavor that not everyone tolerates
  • Liquid format requires refrigeration after opening
  • Only 30 servings per bottle โ€” monthly repurchase required
  • No branded glutathione (e.g. Setriaยฎ) โ€” generic glutathione ingredient
  • No clinical studies backing this specific product
  • Liquid format less convenient for travel than capsules

Where Rho Nutrition Fits on This List

vs. Pure Encapsulations: Rho offers a higher dose (500mg vs 375mg), lower price ($1.21 vs $1.95/serving), and broader dietary certifications (vegan, keto, soy-free). Pure Encapsulations uses Setriaยฎ โ€” a clinically studied branded glutathione โ€” and comes in a tasteless softgel. For those who can handle the taste, Rho delivers better value. For those who can't, Pure Encapsulations is worth the premium.

vs. Immunocal: Immunocal's intracellular precursor approach with 79 patents and 85 clinical studies remains the gold standard. Rho's liquid liposomal method is the best direct-absorption approach on the market, but lacks the clinical validation depth of a precursor product.

Best fit for: People who want the most bioavailable direct liquid glutathione at the best price, are comfortable with the taste, and want a vegan/keto/soy-free formula with no unnecessary additives.

Best Value Liquid Liposomal โ€” If You Can Handle the Taste

Rho Nutrition Liposomal Glutathione earns its #20 ranking in Antioxidant Supplements on Amazon and delivers genuine value for those who want the liquid liposomal format. The formula is clean, the certifications are real, the dose is high, and the price is fair. The taste is the honest dealbreaker for a meaningful percentage of users โ€” and we'd rather tell you that clearly than let you find out at first sip. If you can get past it (or master the OJ chase technique recommended by reviewers), this is the best-value liquid liposomal option on this list. If taste is a concern, Pure Encapsulations' softgel is the alternative. For maximum intracellular glutathione with clinical backing, Immunocal remains #1.

Tastes Good for a quality Glutathione! Noticeable benefits

Quality LG has a smell/taste and this product does a pretty good job masking that active LG taste. It tastes better straight. Mixing it in water made the taste worse. Taking a small sip of OJ after makes the aftertaste hardly noticeable at all. Biggest thing I've noticed is my daily energy level/mood, and that I have not gotten sick at all this flu season. My family has gotten RSV and a couple other colds โ€” not me. I've also noticed it may be helping with my back pain from my DDD of L5/S1.

Great product and price point, not my favorite flavor but taste doesn't last forever

Over the past 5 years, I have had to do a lot of work on my gut (leaky gut/inflammation) and overall health. I started incorporating glutathione years ago and would never go back. I do like this product, no trouble on my stomach, easy to take, and between this and some other supplements, my energy, sleep and skin have been better overall. I would recommend to anyone โ€” price point was way better though!

Good product

I think they exaggerated too much about the flavor. Yes, it is bad, but it's medicine โ€” what else can you expect? Glutathione is quite difficult for the human body to absorb, which is why it has to be liposomal โ€” otherwise you're wasting your money taking water with sugar. I recommend taking NAC in combination, because what you can't absorb can be synthesized by your body from NAC. It tastes like onion. I swallow it fast without breathing, because I know this one works and my liver will be thankful. So I love it.

Great product with funky taste

As some other reviewers have said, this product has a bit of a funky taste, but I've gotten used to it and kinda like it now. I take it for the many benefits glutathione has, so I don't worry about the taste as much. I take it before I go to bed and have found I sleep better most nights.

The consistency is easy.

I don't know if it is working or not because I am not the best at taking it daily. It does taste like sulphur, but I think that is the way it tastes period. Tomato juice cuts the taste if you have any V8 โ€” I suggest a chug after.

Impossible to Drink

I don't think I can drink this. It smells like a rotten fart. I don't even want to know how it tastes.

Our Editorial Note on Taste
Taste Tips From the Review Community
How to Make It Work

Based on what works for buyers: Take it straight (not mixed in water โ€” mixing makes it worse). Chase immediately with orange juice or V8 tomato juice. Don't breathe through your nose while taking it. Some reviewers take it before bed when taste sensitivity is lower. Most report adjusting within 1โ€“2 weeks.

Questions & Answers

Rho Nutrition Liposomal Glutathione โ€” FAQ

Glutathione contains cysteine โ€” a sulfur-containing amino acid. Sulfur compounds are responsible for the distinctive smell of onions, garlic, and eggs. This is not a formulation defect โ€” it is an inherent property of the glutathione molecule itself. All liquid glutathione products will have some version of this taste. Rho uses monk fruit and berry/citrus flavors to mask it. The brand has done a better job than some competitors, but the underlying sulfur character remains perceptible to many users. The key insight from reviewers: don't mix it in water (makes it worse), take straight, and chase with OJ or V8.
Theoretically yes โ€” liquid liposomes are pre-hydrated and dispersed, which may allow faster and more immediate interaction with mucosal tissue compared to softgels that must first dissolve. In practice, well-formulated softgels (like Pure Encapsulations) also achieve significantly improved absorption over standard capsules. The difference between high-quality liquid and softgel liposomal glutathione is likely modest. The bigger distinction is between any liposomal format and plain oral glutathione capsules โ€” that gap is meaningful.
One knowledgeable reviewer made a good point on this: not all oral glutathione will be absorbed intact, even in liposomal form. N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) provides the rate-limiting amino acid (cysteine) that your body uses to synthesize glutathione intracellularly โ€” so it works through a different mechanism. Taking both together is a sensible approach: the liposomal GSH provides direct supplementation, and the NAC supports endogenous production. This combination is frequently used by practitioners. As always, consult a healthcare provider before combining supplements.
Liquid supplements generally benefit from refrigeration after opening to preserve stability and freshness. While the product contains potassium sorbate as a preservative, keeping it refrigerated after opening is the best practice. Before opening, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The 30-serving bottle should be used within the month once opened.
Yes on both counts. Rho Nutrition uses non-GMO sunflower lecithin โ€” not soy lecithin โ€” as the phospholipid liposome carrier. This makes it soy-free, which is a meaningful distinction for those with soy sensitivities or who avoid it for dietary reasons. The formula is also fully vegan (no animal-derived ingredients), keto-compatible, and certified gluten-free.
